Off Bowery dot Com is part of the OBP network–all sites designed and produced and directed in collaboration with Steadfast. We launched a redesign of OBP’s NY GLOB (the only blog that matters, really) along with a new OBP site–the NY Craze. Chuck Yatsuk, of Steadfast and VBPA, is finishing up work on a cool concept for the Craze. Just get the NY Craze e-mail address and e-mail a JPEG photo. The site receives your image and posts, automatically. Just like a robot. Exactly like a robot.

Sophie T, Lvoff sent in this photo (below) from PHOTOSSIPPI, a collection of snapshots from the launch of Steadfast’s HQ # 2 in Oxford, Mississippi. Watch the Craze for continued dispatches from the Delta and from New York’s creative community. That’s Andy with a BB Gun. Not a gun. Just a BB gun. The idea is that between the three sites OBP can document a whole community in real time, in real color, across mediums. Here’s what we sent over to the NY Craze, Photossippi #1. Pretty gruesome, no?

At the Ft. Greene Flea Market today we found Marika Ackermann selling Mother’s Day notes for 77 cents a piece along with mustard packs she stole from the deli across the street for 2 cents. Over the course of the day she made enough cashola to buy giant chocolate ice cream cones for herself and all of her friends.

Once everything was cleared up, the guys over at the Bureau liked Sophie (who is very charming) so much that they decided to give her special access. She got to go up in special surveying planes, hang out in the control towers. I’m not going to lie: basically she had the run of the place.

Big up to Officer Mike and Officer Dan. We’re glad Sophie’s rocketing to the top of the art world instead of killing time in Guantanamo.

We hear she lives with her 13 babies in an Italian Villa that was airlifted from Puglia to the top of a crumbling high rise on one of those windy streets in Manhattan’s West Village. She also lives with her 20-year old boyfriend and her three dachshunds. She is now close to 80 but the old Pope (the cool Pope, in our book) granted her a special indulgence and had her birth certificate burned. So no one knows how old she is. We ain’t asking either.

Linda Manz made two movies before she was twenty and then bounced to Northern California to live with her grip husband, raise a family and tend to her fruit trees. She’s got this amazing harried energy that would no doubt make for the most captivating celebrity reality drama ever. If she was into that. She’s mostly into plums these days.

Speaking of Queens institutions, check out the Jamaica, Queens Aqueducts, below, as depicted by Théodore Géricault, without doubt the finest realist to ever paint a horse in Queens, will play host to the second finest race of the first weekend in May.

Also check back to see us hard at work on the music video for the new Virgins B-side. We’re shutting down a section of Christopher Street for the afternoon and we’ve hired on a crane operator plus two tough-as-nails union crews, so its obviously going to be ace.  We didn’t feel like messing with no movie unions, so we went ahead and hired us some Pipefitters and Teamsters.  Watch for its debut in early june on Perezers.

At the Armory, we’ve been assisting striking, fierce, lovely Ms. Agathe Snow as she prepares for a open, 8-day dance marathon called Stamina: Gloria Et Patria, her entry to the 2008 Whitney Biennial, which we’ve written about in this space before. What does that mean? That means we built a website, called reporters, worked the phones, made fliers, and made movies. We did things we liked to do. We did them well. We’ll be doing them until Stamina 2008 ends, a week from this Sunday. Sign up online at www.stamina2008.com

The office, we tearily report, is now stripped and bare and we’ve moved our action to the Park Avenue Armory for Agathe Snow’s Stamina 2008, part of what NY Mag is calling the “Facebook Biennial.”

Our projects at the WreckCenter included producing video for what will eventually become the WreckCenterNetwork, an online channel offering a full-line up from 2017’s most celebrated megamajor television, pirate radio and telegraph supernetwork.
